Queer Writers Circle Youth Initiative
Being young and LGBTQIA+ can be a lonely experience without the support of a welcoming community. The Queer Writers Circle Youth Initiative aims to empower the LGBTQIA+ community in Vienna, particularly young people, by fostering a sense of belonging. Through interdisciplinary, queer-centered storytelling, the initiative brings together diverse queer communities—differing in language, ethnicity, ability, and educational background—yet united by a shared passion for art and expression.
The initiative hosts monthly meetings, various workshops, and multilingual events to create a space for queer writers in Vienna to share and develop their work, including events such as "Poetry for Pride". They have also published a zine and started skills development in preparation for an anthology. By offering regular meetings to write and exchange stories, this project helps young people from different parts of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum to hone their creative writing skills and empowers them both as individuals and as a community.

The project was funded by ESK (European Solidarity Corps).
