DanceMap
Dance is a fleeting art - without targeted preservation, its cultural heritage is in danger of being lost. This is precisely where DanceMap comes in: As a research initiative, the project develops sustainable, transnational strategies to make dance visible as intangible cultural heritage, to promote it and to preserve it in the long term. A central research concern of the project is also to highlight the potential of dance as a bearer of European values such as progressiveness, diversity and inclusion.
The following measures are carried out at DanceMap:
- Documenting and showcasing European dance heritage through a comprehensive directory of archives, collections, and knowledge centers across Europe.
- Creation of an interactive digital platform that offers an insight into the diversity and richness of European dance heritage and makes it accessible to a global audience. For research, the platform offers opportunities for networking and data exchange.
- Linking artistic and scientific research approaches in order to preserve dance in a digital and practice-oriented way.
- Through intensive lobbying, DanceMap advocates for better framework conditions for the protection and promotion of dance heritage at local, national and European level.
This project was funded by Horizon Europe.
