Castles on the Upper Rhine
In the Upper Rhine region, over 300 recorded castles hide a so far little-known wealth of cultural heritage. The project "Castles on the Upper Rhine", funded by INTERREG A, wants to change that. The castles are to become more visible in the region and contribute to strengthening the Rhenish identity. In addition, the project contributes to their protection as cultural heritage.
The core of the project is cross-border cooperation. Especially through the sharing of information and competences, as well as the cross-border coordination of measures, the sites can be made accessible to the inhabitants and tourism in an optimal way. To this end, almost 40 project partners from the fields of culture, tourism and civil society are cooperating on a transnational level.
During the project period, joint databases will be created, an exhibition will be curated, a colloquium will be organized, 3D upgrades for selected castles will be created and a coordinated action plan for tourism marketing will be developed. There will also be events such as a competition, a meeting of the network of castles and a festival.
Above all, in the spirit of the funding program, sustainable links will be created for future joint actions of the partner structures.

The project was funded by INTERREG A.
